Sunrise Side Coastal Highway
Alpena is centrally located on the Sunrise Side Coastal Highway, a 200-mile stretch of US 23 graced with scenic views, undeveloped wild areas, roomy beaches and recreational areas for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Rent a bike and ride a 13-mile path that travels through a number of Alpena’s plentiful public parks and beaches. The whole family can enjoy adventure golf, go-karts, bumper boats, mini-golf and a Skate Park. Visit a garden of dinosaur sculptures or a farm populated by scarecrows. Deer and other wildlife are often seen by golfers as they play three golf courses in the area. You can also see majestic elk on a sleigh or wagon ride experience that includes dinner and wine tasting at a cabin in the woods.
