Special Events


Something special is always going on in Alpena. Festivals and events that celebrate Independence Day, antique steam engines, classic cars, lighthouses, Santa Claus, the Thunder Bay River, and a fish called “Big Brownie” are just a smattering of the special events that take place in Alpena year ‘round. Great performances at the Alpena Fine Arts Shell, Alpena High School Auditorium, the Alpena County Library and Alpena Community College’s Granum Theatre are scheduled throughout the year. Annual Kiwanis Spring Fest Arts & Crafts Show

You’re invited to the Kiwanis Spring Fest! Music will fill the air and you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the work of many talented artists & crafters. For the younger crowd, a bounce house slide and other activities are planned! The Kiwanis Club will serve their famous whitefish sandwiches and fries, so plan to have lunch, sit a spell and enjoy! This is a very nice show set in a old fashioned park, where you may find a treasure just waiting for you! Hope to see you there!
