Special Events
It seems as though something special is always going on in Alpena. Festivals and events that celebrate Independence Day, antique steam engines, classic cars, lighthouses, Santa Claus, the Thunder Bay River, and a fish called “Big Brownie” are just a smattering of the special events that take place in Alpena year ‘round. Great performances at the Alpena Fine Arts Shell, Alpena High School Auditorium, the Alpena County Library and Alpena Community College’s Granum Theatre are scheduled throughout the year.

Locally grown fresh produce, baked goods, cut flowers, perennials, maple syrup, honey and arts and crafts from Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, Presque Isle, and Oscoda counties.
8:30AM to 9:30AM
Energizing, heart pumping cardio workout to music. No tennis experience necessary. Racquets & balls provided. Come join the fun on the shores of Thunder Bay. Try something new & meet friendly new people. $5 per workout.
7PM to 10PM
Fletcher Pond Dinner and Pontoon Boat Tour
$10 per person for boat ride

High School Memorial Tournament - 10 teams - three days (Friday-Sunday)
$2 per day or $5 for the weekend

Entertainment from 2p.m.-3p.m. featuring USO Style Entertainment, Besser Male Chorus, 4-D Second Street Dance Studio and other special guests.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children. Veterans and active military get in for FREE.

A JURIED ART FAIR
Saturday, July 17th, - 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 18th, - 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
There will be a varity of crafts, jewelry, art, clothing, and lots more. A variety of food will also be available.
Children are invited to create their own art work at the "Kids Art Zone" with artist/instructor Tom Cieciorka.
