Special Events
It seems as though something special is always going on in Alpena. Festivals and events that celebrate Independence Day, antique steam engines, classic cars, lighthouses, Santa Claus, the Thunder Bay River, and a fish called “Big Brownie” are just a smattering of the special events that take place in Alpena year ‘round. Great performances at the Alpena Fine Arts Shell, Alpena High School Auditorium, the Alpena County Library and Alpena Community College’s Granum Theatre are scheduled throughout the year.

Visit the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary volunteer Community Boat Builders and Jim Miller, traditional skills specialist, as they finish their hand-built birch bark canoe.

2ND ANNUAL CRAFT SHOW & FLEA MARKET
Location: Huron Lights Gift Shop
7406 US 23 North,
Alpena, MI. 49707
Friday, Set-up starts at noon.
Open to the public. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Booth Space Rental Donated to: Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. Spaces, are 10’ x 10’ Cost: $20.00 paid in full at the time application is submitted. Each exhibitor responsible for his/her own sales tax collection, and supply their own display.
Vendors will remain open until the end of the show on Sunday.
This event will take place in the parking lot so be prepared for the elements.
