Special Events

It seems as though something special is always going on in Alpena. Festivals and events that celebrate Independence Day, antique steam engines, classic cars, lighthouses, Santa Claus, the Thunder Bay River, and a fish called “Big Brownie” are just a smattering of the special events that take place in Alpena year ‘round.  Great performances at the Alpena Fine Arts Shell, Alpena High School Auditorium, the Alpena County Library and Alpena Community College’s Granum Theatre are scheduled throughout the year.

10AM to 3:45PM
Location: Alpena Regional Medical Center - 1501 West Chisholm Street

The American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region and Best Buy have joined forces to encourage all eligible donors to make an appointment to donate blood. All presenting donors will have the chance to win one (1) of three (3) $500 Best Buy gift cards. A winner will be drawn monthly in June, July and August.

As we enter the difficult summer month, the American Red Cross is encouraging all eligible donors to make an appointment to donate blood. During the summer, blood donations tend to decrease because of busy summer travels. However, the need for blood rises because of the increase in roadway and waterway-related accidents.

To make an appointment to donate blood this summer, call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org .

Thank you for all you do to help support the life-saving mission of the American Red Cross!
