Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center Tour

The Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (Alpena CRTC) is located adjacent to the Alpena County Regional Airport on M-32 West. Tours are by reservation only and availability may be restricted due to Department of Defense security guidelines and training schedules. A minimum of a drivers license or other photo identification is required to be admitted onto the base.

Your tour will include a tour of the base facilities featuring:

• Fire fighting Training Complex
• Medical Readiness Training Area
• Military Operations in Urban Terrain Area (MOUT)
• Air Combat Maneuvers Instrumentation facility (ACMI)

At the conclusion of the tour, military retirees with ID may visit base exchange.

Tour Lafarge North America Alpena Plant

Leading cement manufacturing into the twenty-first century, Lafarge North America’s Alpena Plant is the largest cement plant of Lafarge North America. This cement manufacturing facility has been operational in Alpena since 1908. Today, it produces 2.8 million tons of cement each year. Your tour will lead you through the manufacturing process at this innovative plant.
Please note: it is recommended that tour participants wear long pants and no open-toed shoes. There is only a small amount of walking and no stair climbing.

NEMROC Tour

Northeast Michigan Rehabilitation Occupational Center (NEMROC) is a manufacturing facility that produces lumber and plastic products and also serves as a sheltered workshop for the disabled. See a working sawmill, dry kiln and a dimensional mill that produces yard sticks and paint paddles. In addition to manufacturing PVC chair mats, NEMROC is a subcontractor for packaging and assembly.
